I think that it's a good idea to monitor how the employees use computers at work because they are there to work and not to chat with their friends. If they want to chat or to read their private email, they must use their personal computer at home. As you are working for someone and they pay you for that, it is not illegal if your boss monitors your computer, you must be doing what he wants and nothing more.

Are singers so poor?

It is illegal to use networks to share copyrighted music or video files but copying music from the radio to an audio cassette not. It seems a joke. Are really getting poor music companies? No. And the singers? No. So, in my opinion, it isn't wrong to download some music, and when you really like a group you can buy the CD.

Is really plagiarism what they do?

Is really plagiarism to search in Internet for information? And if you copy the information from an encyclopedia? Nowadays, Internet is a very useful tool where you can search for information. What you can’t do is copy and past a whole work that is in Internet. But if you look for information and with all that information you write the task,that's not plagiarism. The teachers should ask about the task once that the students write it, so they could see if the have learned something.

A weekend in Saint Tropez

Saint Tropez

Saint-Tropez is a commune of the Var département in southern France, located on the French Riviera. The seaside resort town Saint Tropez is still very popular with the tourists famous and wealthy. Set on the lovely blue water of the Bay of Saint-Tropez, this modern version of a medieval town is most popular for the line of yachts along the quai, and the facing line of terrace cafés, divided by a parade of strolling tourists and slow cruising expensive cars.

Saint-Tropez was the antique Athenopolis, or Heraclea Caccabaris, the name used again by the Thermidoriens in 1793. In "modern" times, the town was listed as Ecclesia Sancti Torpetis in 1055, named after one of Nero's centurians who was beheaded in Pisa for the sake of his religion. Torpès' body and his head, along with a dog and a cock, was placed in a boat and set adrift. The dog and cock were intended to devour the man's remains, but he was still intact, so to speak, when the boat came ashore where the town of St Tropez stands today. The current name of Saint Tropez came after the Revolution.
Weather conditions in St Tropez are almost perfect year-round. Even when rainfall does occur, it doesn’t usually set in for long and visitors can be sure that most days of their holiday will be sunny. Temperatures do not fluctuate greatly during the year, with the town escaping the searing heat of summer and cold damp winters that characterise some other Mediterranean locations.

DOES PLAYING VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES CAUSE AGRESSIVE BEHAVOUR?

Reviews of video game research are as variable in their conclusions as the individual studies that comprise them. The same research is said to support different conclusions. For instance, Ask (1999), Funk (1993, 1995), Provenzo (1991), and Anderson & Bushman (2001) conclude that there is a causal connection between violent video games and aggressive behavior. Others think the data insufficient to support this connection (Cumberbatch, Maguire & Woods, 1993; Durkin, 1995; Griffiths, 1999; Wiegman, van Schie & Modde, 1997). Sacher (1993), reviewing mostly German research, found 5 experiments and 2 correlational studies linking violent video games to aggressive behavior, and 12 experiments and 7 correlational studies finding no such linkage.
In his overview of video game research, Barrie Gunter (1998, p. 109) concludes, "Even with experimental studies, there are problems of validity that derive from the fact that they do not measure ‘real aggression’ but rather simulated or pretend aggression."
According to British psychologist Mark Griffiths (1999) "the majority of studies on very young children tend to show that children become more aggressive after playing or watching a violent video game, but these were all based on the observation of free play."
Two recent meta-analyses (Anderson & Bushman, 2001; Sherry, 2001) report small effect sizes (r = .19 and .15, respectively). In the Sherry meta-analysis, playing time emerged as a negative predictor of effect size. That is, the more one played video games, the weaker the relation to aggressive behavior!
Meta-analysis is about the quantity, not the quality, of data. The conclusions of meta-analyses cannot be more valid than the studies that comprise them

Evaluating Internet Health information

Always pay close attention to where the information on the site comes from. Many health and medical Web sites post information collected from other Web sites or sources. If the person or organization in charge of the site did not write the material, the original source should be clearly identified. Be careful of sites that don't say where the information comes from.

Sites that end in ".gov," sponsored by the federal government, like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (www.hhs.gov), the FDA (www.fda.gov), the National Institutes of Health (www.nih.gov), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), and the National Library of Medicine (www.nlm.nih.gov)
.edu sites, which are run by universities or medical schools, such as Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of California at Berkeley Hospital, health system, and other health care facility sites, like the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic

Medical and scientific journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association, although these aren't written for consumers and could be hard to understand.
Sites whose addresses end in .com are usually commercial sites and are often selling products.
4. How is the information on the Web site documented?
In addition to identifying the original source of the material, the site should identify the evidence on which the material is based. Medical facts and figures should have references (such as citations of articles in medical journals). Also, opinions or advice should be clearly set apart from information that is "evidence-based" (that is, based on research results).

Outsourcing, yes or not?

Whether in the United States, India, China, or some other geography, in most instances, companies that offshore or outsource achieve a greater return on invested capital; greater return on equity, and greater return on assets than companies that do not outsource. Manufacturing companies that use outsourcing services also reach break even (BE) sooner, where profits begin, against less revenues and lower volume.
Unfortunately, many OEMs do not engage a contract manufacturing partner early enough. OEM executives considering outsourcing should take a core competency litmus test consisting of three questions:
1. If starting from scratch today, would we build capability inside?
2. Are we so good others would pay us to do it?
3. Is this an area of our business from which future leaders will come?
If an executive answers yes to one of these question, there’s a good chance he or she may not want to outsource -- for strategic reasons. Otherwise, it usually makes sense to outsource and engage the contract manufacturer as soon as possible.
The earlier the contract manufacturer is brought into the decision-making process, the sooner he can provide insight into design-for-manufacturing (DFM) requirements based on his years of experience and incorporate this knowledge into the OEM’s product to help minimize costly OEM design iterations that may otherwise disrupt the OEM’s time-to-market (TTM) strategy and, ultimately, could result in loss of market share in some instances.
In spite of all of this, many executives are still reluctant to embrace contract manufacturing. One obstacle has been executives are often required to assign value to business units—including outsourced functions—according to the contribution to their company's bottom line.
The difficulty of properly deciding how these functions affect the value of a company's fixed assets can sometimes prevent original equipment manufacturing executives from acknowledging the comparative value of outsourcing manufacturing or design activities.

I think that I was twelve when my parents bought me my first computer. Actually, it was not for me, it was for my sister, but i used to use it.

Firstly I only used Internet to chat with my friends. But now it's different. I use Internet for so many things... For example, before I go shopping I see what is coming that season.

I have also used Internet to prepare a travel with my friends. We booked there the hotel, the flight, the tickets for the disco...everything.

Although I haven't shopped online, when I am bored, I go through Internet to look for something I want.

So, to sum up, I think that nowadays you can use Internet for everything you want. You can even fall in love with someone through it.
